Organization Qualifications:
- Only non-profit organizations will be considered. Applicants must submit a copy of the organization's 501(c)3 exemption letter from the IRS.
- The organization must provide services in Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, or Grand Haven.
- The organization must have experience working with large events.
- At least one volunteer from the organization must have experience in traffic control.
- A representative of the organization must be assigned to work with show organizers.
Expectations:
- The organization must be able to fully staff the event.
- The organization is responsible for scheduling and follow-up with staff for their assigned nights.
- All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and must be checked in and ready to work no later than 5:30 PM.
- Volunteers must work from 5:30 PM to 9:20 PM Tuesday through Thursday and 5:30 PM to 10:20 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Volunteers are expected to familiarize themselves with the provided basic safety training before working the event.
- Volunteers are required to wear and use provided safety equipment.
- Any volunteer that fails to follow all safety protocols or common-sense safety will be asked to leave.
- Failure to properly staff any scheduled night will disqualify the organization from receiving donations.
Job Duties:
- Traffic control on Heather Court
- Accepting donations; volunteers must be outgoing and willing to ask for donations
- Greeting guests and passing out candy canes to them
Awarding Process:
- Applications will be accepted until October 1, 2010. Thereafter a committee of neighbors will review all qualified applicants and vote. The top three organizations will be this year's charities. Selected recipients must agree to a written contract regarding services to be provided by them and the allocation of donations.
